Power Rangers is now in theaters - much to the delight of fans of the original '90s TV series, and its many spinoffs. With a new angle to the mythology, the Power Rangers movie mixes a lot of older, fan-favorite elements with some exciting new ideas, culminating in a cool superhero team origin story.
As with any relaunch of a famous property (especially a geek-friendly property like Power Rangers), there's always the question of how many Easter eggs from the past can be buried in the new film. Power Rangers has many Easter eggs from the various installments of the TV series, but one of the biggest questions has been whether any former show stars will show up in the new movie - especially the actors from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series.
Now that Power Rangers is out, we now have confirmation that members of the original cast do in fact show up in the film. If you want to know who (or you simply missed it during the film), click "Start Slideshow" to proceed to the next page and find out! SPOILER ALERT!
Pink and Green Dream Team
After the new Power Rangers finally defeat Rita Repulsa and her Goldar monster, the entire town of Angel Grove looks on in awe of the Rangers and their Megazord. Naturally, the cell phones come and people start snapping away - and front and center of the crowd are none other than Amy Jo Johnson and Jason David Frank!
If you don't recognize the names: Amy Jo Johnson played the Pink Ranger in the '90s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series; Jason David Frank is the franchise icon, starting as The Green Ranger in '90s MMPR, and returning for different installments of the show all the way up until 2014! In the original show, Johnson's Kimberly and Frank's Tommy were actually an item - something that the film hints at, as well.
Amy Jo Johnson is a face that many fans expected to see - but when word leaked out early (via a different former Power Rangers actor) that Jason David Frank would be in the film, the actor actually responded with an outright denial! So for all those who always think rumors are wrong and celebrities are "trusted sources," remember this example...
