While Marvel and Netflix have suffered some backlash over the recent Iron Fist series, the other characters they've taken on over the years have been met with nothing but critical acclaim. Jon Bernthal's Punisher is a good example of this, as everyone has loved his performance as the anti-hero.

People loved him enough that he was given his own series, which just wrapped production over the weekend. The Defenders is next on the list, but it won't be long until The Punisher hits Netflix as well.

While everyone's waiting for the series to come out, some new photos from the set have started to surface. They don't show any action - or give away any plot points - but they do show Frank Castle in his full Punisher armor.

Yeah, he's got the skull on his breast plate and everything - it's exactly as awesome as you had hoped.

Although it hasn't been given a release date, The Punisher will be coming sometime in 2017. With The Defenders set to debut on August 18, and Frank Castle shouldn't be far behind.

Marvel's The Defenders was developed by Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez. The miniseries will also feature Sigourney Weaver as the villain, Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver), and several recurring guest stars from Marvel's Daredevil, Marvel's Jessica Jones, Marvel's Luke Cage, and Marvel's Iron Fist, including Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Scott Glenn as Stick, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, and Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing.
