It's been a long time in the works, but Image Comic has announced that Jersey Gods will finally be hitting comic book stores this February. Jersey Gods will be a onging superhero epic by Glen Brunswick and Dan McDaid. Glen Brunswick is the writer behind The Gray Area, and Dan McDaid has done artwork for Doctor Who. A sneak preview of Jersey Gods was done in Robert Kirkman's Invincible. The ongoing superhero series will star Barock, who is a superhero from another planet, and Zoe, who is a high maintenance Jersey girl. Jersey Gods will tell the story of the newlywed couple. Of course don't expect life for Barock and Zoe to be typical married life, because Barock's previous life will shake things up for the couple. "Jersey Gods represents a lifetime spent dreaming of superheroes," said Glen Brunswick. "Ever since I was young, the seeds of what would become Jersey Gods were kicking around. Jersey Gods is to me what Savage Dragon is for Erik Larsen or Invincible is for Robert Kirkman - it's the superhero series I want to tell without an end; one I hope will keep readers coming back for years and years to come. Working with an artist as talented and versatile as Dan makes this a real dream come true." Jersey Gods will feature covers by some of the hottest artists in comics including Madman Atomic Comics' Mike Allred, DC: New Frontier's Darwyn Cooke, Heavy Liquid's Paul Pope and Savage Dragon's Erik Larsen. Dan McDaid will also do a limited-edition variant cover for the first issue. Jersey Gods #1 is scheduled to hit comic book stors on February 4th, 2009.
