Iron Patriot To Be Introduced In Dark Avengers

One of the biggest questions that has been buzzing around the comic book world lately is exactly who are the Dark Avengers. A little while back, Marvel released a shadowy cover image that seemed to show Spider-Man, Wolverine, Hawkeye, and Ms Marvel as members of the Dark Avengers. Marvel also showed a shadowy character called the Iron Patriot, who looked like Iron Man with Captain America's star on his chest. A recent Marvel press release teased that the Dark Avengers features "Spider-Man, Wolverine, Hawkeye, Ms Marvel and more like you've never seen them before." There have been much Internet speculation that the characters are not actually who they look like but villains in disguise. The answers to some or maybe all of the questions surrounding the Dark Avengers will soon be revealed, as the first issue is scheduled to hit comic book stores on January 21, 2009. Dark Avengers #1 is written by Brian Michael Bendis with artwork by Mike Deodato. The first issue will feature variant covers by Adi Granov and Marko Djurdjevic. There will also be a blank cover variant that fans can take to comic book events to have their favorite artists illustrate.
