Update on ‘Spider-Man 4′: Sam Raimi and Kirsten Dunst

It looks like ‘Spider-Man 4′ is ramping up.

The first draft of the script for ‘Spider-Man 4′ will be completed the end of June, Sam Raimi tells MTV’s Splashpage.  The director says he’s also close to hiring some of his production crew.

When asked about whether or not Kirsten Dunst will return as Mary Jane Watson, Raimi said:

“Kirsten? I have talked with her, and she’s very excited about the possibility of it.  I think I’m going to have to read the screenplay and make sure everything we’ve talked about is working, before I could honestly tell you absolutely how [Dunst’s possible return] would go.”

I’m trying not to read too much into this, but it sounds like this isn’t anywhere near a done deal.  Wonder if Raimi has another actress he’d like to cast in the role?

‘Spider-Man 4′ is due in theaters May 6, 2011.

    Did you ever give any thought that perhaps she (Dunst) is making a deal, that best fits her needs? Hey, we all have to make a living… And if Raimi had another actress in mind…where is she? Why not just hire her and continue with the project. Or even better, hire a guy for Spidey and change the story line up, BIG TIME! =)

    I believe that there should be no more spiderman movies. However since the studio is moving ahead with a part 4 they should have new actors to replace Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. Tobey is 33 years old, he’s too old to play spiderman! They need either Jake Gyllenhall or Joseph Gordon-Levitt to play Spiderman. As for Mary Jane? Well they can find someone who is hotter than Kirsten Dunst.

    1) Yes, they need to get a new person to play spiderman and not because he is old, but because he sucks! He plays the worst peter parker I could imagine.

    2) they need to get a new Director. Sam Raimi has shown us 3 times now that he just doesn’t have what it takes to make a good spider man movie. And the 3rd one? I literally stopped watching 1/2 of the way through.

    They need to do what Superman Returns did and just start over. It has been that bad.
