Michael Jackson Comic Book Tribute Announced

June 30, 2009 · By Nick Winstead · Posted in Comic Books

In the wake of the sudden and tragic death of pop music mega-star Michael Jackson, Bluewater Productions has announced the October release of Tribute: Michael Jackson, King of Pop.  Comic book readers may have heard of Bluewater’s other projects, such as the announced release of Female Force, a series of comics focusing on women such as Michelle Obama and Sarah Palin, and a comic book focusing on the life of noted tv personality, Oprah Winfrey.

“This is a celebration of his life and what he meant to a legion of fans,” said Bluewater Productions president Darren G. Davis.  The issue will be treated with fairness and will not, as Davis put it, “Shy away from some of his personal troubles, (we’ll) try to tell a balanced story that shows Jackson as a musical genius, an unparalleled superstar and as a complex person.”

The book will feature a wraparound cover and pools together some of Bluewater’s talent for the tribute, including personal friend of Michael Jackson Giuseppe Mazzola, who will illustrate the covers and who has written a forward for the book.  While Michael Jackson has had his share of encounters with the comic book world over the years, this book is certain to be the most realistic portrayal of a man whose personal struggles and career seemed like the stuff of legend.
