Image Comicshas announced the Image Expo, which is to be a three-day celebration of creator owned comic books. The Image Expo also commemorates the 20th Anniversary of Image Comics. Image Expo has already lined up an impressive list of talent, as Image partners Robert Kirkman, Erik Larsen, Todd McFarlane, Marc Silvestri, and Jim Valentino will be appearing for signings, panels, and special events. In addition, other guests will include Image founders Rob Liefeld and Whilce Portacio, plus Joe Casey, Jay Faerber, Jonathan Hickman, Ryan Ottley, Richard Starkings, Fiona Staples, and Brian K. Vaughan. Even though the event is named after Image Comics, it's designed to be a celebration of all independent creativity in comics. Anyone who makes creator-owned comics is eligible to participate on the exhibitor floor. Image is also promising unique programming for fans, aspiring creators, and library professionals. The Expo will include a massive benefit auction to help support the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Image Expo will take place at the Oakland Convention Center in downtown Oakland, CA. The dates of the event are February 24th, 25th, and 26th, 2012.
