In order to celebrate the 500th episode of The Simpsons, FOX is challenging fans of The Simpsons to break the Guinness World Record for longest continuous television viewing. The contest will kick off at Hollywood & Highland in Los Angeles on February 8, 2011, and the winner will receive a $10,500 prize and an array of The Simpsons merchandise. During The Simpsons Ultimate Fan Marathon Challenge, fans will come together in order to watch up to 500 continuous episodes of The Simpsons in hopes of breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous television viewing, which currently stands at 86 hours, 6 minutes and 41 seconds. The Simpsons 500th episode entitled "At Long Last Leave" is scheduled to air on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 8:00 PM ET/PT on FOX. The storyline for the episode involves The Simpsons being evicted from Springfield and joining an off-the-grid community outside of town.
