The Hunger Games Movie - Why We're Excited

With a little more than a month to go until 'The Hunger Games' hits theaters, we've been giving you our thoughts on the film.  We've already written about the things that concern us.  Now it's time for the things we're really excited to see with the film adaptation. Casting.  Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss (yes, we're still concerned she'll look too old by the time the sequels hit) might seem a fresh face to some, but comic book fans know her well.  She's a heck of an actress, and based on the trailers, she has Katniss down pretty good.  Elizabeth Banks nailed Effie Trinket, Woody Harrelson is PERFECT to play Haymitch Abernathy, Josh Hutcherson is exactly the look we envisioned as Peeta, Stanley Tucci was a great choice for Caesar Flickerman, and Donald Sutherland should prove to be an evil, evil President Snow. Fantastic all-around job of casting, and we think it will help propel the film to a heck of a box office take. Costumes. There really isn't a need to nominate other folks for the Academy Award for Costume Design.  It's already locked up.  Caesar's look is straight out of the book, and Banks' Effie Trinket is just brilliant.  Gamemaker Seneca Crane's look (played by Wes Bentley) is dead on.  We were concerned that the budget might cause problems with CGI/special effects and cause the film to divert from the book, but obviously the costume designers didn't have any problems creating replicas. Panem. The shots of District 12 aren't quite as bleak as we might have wanted, but it's certainly pretty bleak.  We're guessing that the shots/scenes of the other Districts will be just as impressive.  The trailers for the film have kept images of the Capitol to a minimum, but the ones we have been treated to are masterful.  Again, this is one area where we're concerned about the budget, but so far, the Capitol scenes have been nothing short of dazzling. So what do you think?  What else are you excited about with the March 23rd premiere of 'The Hunger Games?'  Tell us in the comments below!
