To the surprise of virtually no one in the comics industry, Image Comics' Saga #1, which hits the stands tomorrow, has sold out at Diamond Comics Distributors and will go back for a second print. The second print will be available on April 11, the same day as Saga #2 is released. With art by Fiona Staples, Saga #1 marks the first time since the end of his critically-acclaimed and fan-favorite series Ex Machina that former Y: The Last Man writer Brian K. Vaughan has returned to monthly comics. The story blends science fiction and fantasy with an almost Shakespearean tale of young love set against the backdrop of war and genocide. One of the most anticipated new titles of 2012 ever since it was announced at San Diego Comic-Con last year, Saga has been getting phenomenal advance buzz and at least one retailer told Bleeding Cool that he had ordered more copies of Saga #1 than they did of last year's Justice League #1, which turned out to be the best-selling comic from Marvel or DC in 2011 and recently went back for its seventh printing. Image's official announcement came complete with a series of glowing advance reviews for the book, delivered by everyone from MTV Geek to Warren Ellis. ComicBook.com will run our non-spoiler review tomorrow.
