According to Variety's News Editor Stuart Oldham, writer/director Christopher Nolan's upcoming Batman finale The Dark Knight Rises will hit theaters with a runtime of "just over 2 hours." Whether that will be enough time for what looks like a very crowded plot, from Bane's midair escape from custody to the apparent fall of both Gotham and Bruce Wayne and back again for what will (presumably) be a happy ending for at least most of the characters is hard to say. Batman Begins was very decompressed, with not a ton of story sitting in its two hours and twenty minutes. The Dark Knight, meanwhile, felt like it was paced almost perfectly. It had a lot more going on and a few more action sequences, but its two hours and thirty-two minutes felt tight as a drum. Nolan, however, has rarely made a film that scores less than 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, so it's hard to question his judgment too much. His next DC project is to oversee the production of the upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel, directed by 300 and Watchmen filmmaker Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill of Immortals fame. Thanks to Super Podcasto Magnifico! for the scoop.
