With all the hype about The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises, sometimes the Amazing Spider-Man movie gets overlooked. But based on this Japanese movie trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, fans shouldn’t be overlooking it. In an unprecedented summer, it looks like comic book fans will have three really good superhero movies to see.
The great thing about this Japanese movie trailer for Amazing Spider-Man is that it really focuses in on Peter Parker. While I was a fan of the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man, I think Andrew Garfield might be connecting with the role on an epic level. By epic level, what I mean is when an actor so perfectly fits into a role it becomes impossible to think of anyone else as the character, kind of like Robert Downey Jr. has done with Tony Stark.
If I had any criticism of the first series of Spider-Man films, it was that Peter Parker rarely showed his gifted intellect and came across as whiney at times. In this Spider-Man reboot, it appears that we will see a much more confident Peter Parker, who fully displays his genius. It’s great to see Peter Parker behind a chalkboard filled with formulas, doing his best Goodwill Hunting impression.
In addition to what looks to be excellent acting from Andrew Garfield, the special effects also appear to be amazing. The Lizard looks like he has been translated to film as the best looking Spider-Man villain so far. The Amazing Spider-Man premieres in theaters in the United States on July 3, 2012.
