Man of Steel, Iron Man 3 In, Dark Knight Rises Out for Comic-Con Screenings 0

According to a new article at Variety, first-look footage from Marvel's Iron Man 3 and Warner Brothers' Man of Steel are likely to be screened at next month's San Diego Comic-Con International, but The Dark Knight Rises--which hits theaters less than a week after the show concludes--will be nowhere to be found.

"[The] studio has never taken one of Christopher Nolan’s Batman pics to the show, and there are no indications that this year will be any exception," explains Variety.

That's also in keeping with our speculation from yesterday that The Dark Knight Rises would simply not have any advance screenings, in order to protect the plot, which has been shrouded in secrecy since filming began. Recent rumors have suggested that when the film does hit theaters on July 20, it may have a Man of Steel trailer attached to it; should that turn out to be true, expect at least that trailer to screen at Comic-Con if nothing else.

Who are expected to show up, then? The magazine speculates that both The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 and Total Recall will likely have extended previews available, The Hobbit may actually screen fully at the convention, and a possible sneak peek at the adaptation of Dark Horse's R.I.P.D.

Besides The Dark Knight Rises, Variety reports that fans hoping to get looks at G.I. Joe: Retaliation, World War Z, Jack Reacher and Star Trek 2 will likely be disappointed, as there's no indication any of those will show up this year.

San Diego Comic-Con International takes place from July 11-15 this year, and ComicBook.com will be there, reporting live from the show floor.
