We don’t recall ever seeing a Warner Bros. press announcement or any other sites reporting on this, but the world premiere date of The Dark Knight Rises has been officially revealed. The world premiere of The Dark Knight Rises will take place in New York City on Monday, July 16, 2012.
The Dark Knight Rises world premiere is taking place four days ahead of the official release of The Dark Knight Rises in theaters, which is set to occur on Friday, July 20, 2012. The fact that The Dark Knight Rises world premiere date is so close to the regular release date is in stark contrast to The Avengers, which held its world premiere over three weeks before the release date.
It’s likely that Warner Bros. is holding the world premiere so close to the official release date to try to limit any spoilers from the movie leaking out. For the most part, world premieres are attended by the stars of the movie, celebrities, insiders, and select members of the press who are unlikely to leak out plot details. However, some of the official advertising partners of The Dark Knight Rises are holding sweepstakes and contests to give some lucky fans the chance to attend.
