It’s been a while since we reported on the various editions of The Avengers that will be hitting the home video market, and that unofficially-leaked information appears to have been accurate.
The film–the highest-grossing movie in the history of Walt Disney Studios–will street on September 25 and feature a commentary track by director Joss Whedon, a gag reel and more. They’ll also launch an iPhone and iPad app in September that will give viewers of the DVD a “second screen” appearance similar to what fans can enjoy from TV shows like The Walking Dead and Conan.
Also available on the disc is the original short film Item 47, which has raised a lot of eyebrows since the previous shorts have featured Agent Coulson, who actor Clark Gregg has said will likely not appear in future Marvel films after The Avengers without substantial fan support.
