Following on the heels of a record-breaking Tuesday opening, Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, took in another $23.4 million on Wednesday to bring the film's cumulative total to $59.3 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The move has many of the same experts who were predicting the movie would make $100 million to $120 million in its opening frame to revise those figures upward to $120 million to $140 million. The film reportedly cost $220 to make, meaning that a higher-than-expected opening weekend and good word of mouth can only help the film to make enough money to justify its inevitable sequels...not that it needs much help. Since Sony has to keep making Spider-Man (and Ghost Rider) movies, lest the rights revert to Disney-owned Marvel, it's unlikely we'll see a pausing point in Peter Parker's saga soon.
