Last year, we wondered why DC Comics hadn’t announced a movie tie-in comic book for The Dark Knight Rises, considering how their competitor Marvel Comics had announced a number of tie-ins with The Avengers. We thought that a comic book that bridged the gap of the events between The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises would be a great idea.
Now, it looks like DC Comics is finally releasing a Dark Knight Rises Prologue comic. Except instead of it being a print comic book sold in comic book shops, The Dark Knight Rises Prologue is actually an app from DC Comics, which is sponsored by Nokia and available on Nokia Windows Phone devices.
The Nokia app features an exclusive motion-comic from writer Joshua Williamson and artist Jorge Jimenez that serves as a prologue to The Dark Knight Rises film. In addition, The Dark Knight Rises Prologue app includes social media share options and links to other apps tied to the film.
But that’s not all. There will also be Batman: Origins app, which is sponsored by Nokia as well. The Batman: Origins app includes the original comic book origins for all of the stars from the Dark Knight trilogy.
