The Dark Knight Rises continues to rise. Even though much has been made of the fact that The Dark Knight Rises won't catch its predecessor The Dark Knight on the all time domestic box office list, The Dark Knight Rises has still enjoyed phenomenal success. As of Monday's box office, The Dark Knight Rises is one of the ten highest grossing movies of all time in the United States. The Dark Knight Rises took in $833,162 on Monday to bring it's total U.S. box office take to $423.09 million. While ranking at number eleven on the all time domestic box office list after the weekend, Monday's box office was enough to lift The Dark Knight Rises past The Lion King and into the number ten spot on the all time domestic box office list. Besides just joining the top ten, the new position for The Dark Knight Rises is historic for another reason. Batman now joins Star Wars as being one of only two franchises to have two movies among the top ten all time highest grossing movies at the U.S. box office. It's an amazing feat considering such other popular franchises as Spider-Man, Harry Potter, and Twilight don't even have one movie in the top ten.
