The Dark Knight Rises Top Ten Worldwide

With the box office having its worst weekend in over a decade, the only real box office news to talk about is the latest milestones crossed by The Dark Knight Rises. While there is some debate over who will ultimately come out on top at the international box office, Rentrak puts The Dark Knight Rises in a tie for second place with Bourne Legacy with The Expandables 2 winning the weekend. However, because the numbers are so close between the top three films, the real winner probably won't be official until China box office numbers are released on Tuesday. Still, based on an estimated haul of $13 million at the international box office, The Dark Knight Rises has now crossed over $600 million at the International box office. The Dark Knight Rises International total of $603.4 million has helped bring the film's worldwide total up to $1.041 billion, which means The Dark Knight Rises is now officially in the top ten on the all time worldwide box office list. In reaching the top ten, The Dark Knight Rises bumps Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace down to number eleven. With another $3.285 million at the domestic box office this weekend, The Dark Knight Rises also moved up on the all time domestic box office list as well. The Dark Knight Rises has moved past E.T. to take the number eight spot among the all time highest grossing domestic films. So for this weekend, The Dark Knight Rises milestones include beating E.T., beating Star Wars: Episode 1, crossing $600 million internationally, moving into the top ten on all time worldwide box office list, and moving into top eight on all time domestic box office list.
