In the second in a series of interviews posted to starwars.com, Lucasfilm founder and Star Wars creator Geoge Lucas and current Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy discussed a little bit about what they're looking for in a director. "It's not going to be people who don't already have some affinity for Star Wars, probably," Kennedy said. "It's going to be somebody who really appreciates what Star Wars meant to them and is excited to dive in and be a part of this. That's the thing that I think will be immediately apparent are the directors who walk into the room and say, 'I can't wait to be a part of this.'" Kennedy added that she's looking to work with people she's worked with in the past--a list that includes Steven Spielberg, Gary Ross and M. Night Syamalan. She also seemed to hint that there hasn't been a firm decision made yet on a writer (contrary to reports), although this interview was recorded before the Michael Arndt news went wide, so it could be that she's just playing it safe. "We're sitting down with a couple of writers and we're starting to discuss ideas and we're starting to talk about what those stories might be," Kennedy said. Meanwhile, the also briefly discussed the role Lucas will play in the sequels, with Kennedy noting that, unlike Warner Brothers's Harry Potter franchise, there isn't source material that they're drawing from and that the films are essentialliy "all in George's head."
