Star Trek Into Darkness Official Synopsis Appears Online 0

According to The Film Stage, Paramount Pictures has quietly released an initial plot synopsis for Star Trek Into Darkness, J. J. Abrams's second trip to the final frontier, ahead of the film's first nine minutes of footage releasing with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in IMAX in December.

The summary paints the film as a manhunt through space, seeking out the man responsible for a terror plot that destroys the fleet (apparently a recurring theme in Abrams's Star Trek). The summary sounds credible enough but until it's in a press release from Paramount and sent off to media far and wide, it'll probably continue to be challenged as a draft prematurely left on the server, especially since Star Trek Into Darkness has already had at least one documented instance of a site claiming to be official and then going viral with bad information.

Check it out below:

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness.

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Star Trek Into Darkness, starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve and Peter Weller, arrives on May 17th, 2013.
