Matthew Vaughn

A director for Star Wars Episode 7 might have been finally revealed, but like with most recent Star Wars rumors, it's still open for interpretation. The rumored confirmation has started to hit the Internet like wildfire, and the source appears to be a video from HeyUGuys.co.uk. The video features Jason Flemyng at the UK premiere of Seven Psychopaths. Flemyng is good friends with director Matthew Vaughn, having worked with him on nine films. When the interviewer asked Flemyng if he had talked to Matthew Vaughn about any Star Wars potential, Flemyng did a C3PO impression and then said, "Me and Matt have done nine films together so I'm sure I'll get the call for Star Wars. But I'm sure it's going to be 'Flemyng, no, I know on paper it doesn't look like much but I promise you it's essential to the part.' So we'll see what happens with that." The interviewer then followed up and asked if Matthew was interested, and Flemyng said, "In what, Star Wars, I think.." Then, Flemyng has the sudden look of someone who has just accidentally confirmed an announcement that hasn't been made yet. Flemyng continues, "Uh, yeah, he's interested, yeah about the deal." While this isn't official confirmation, it certainly makes sense that Matthew Vaughn might have the deal, since he did recently drop out of directing X-Men: Days of Future Past. While there were reports that Matthew Vaughn dropped X-Men: Days of Future Past for Mark Millar's The Secret Service, it really didn't make a lot of sense that he would drop a larger project for a smaller project. However, dropping X-Men: Days of Future Past for Star Wars does make sense.
