Death Star

With a day to spare, the petition calling on the U.S. government to secure resources and funding, and begin construction of a Death Star by 2016 has reached the necessary 25,000 digital signatures. The petition to build a Death Star similar to the one seen in the Star Wars movie began back in mid-November. At first the petition only had a couple hundred signatures, but it attracted attention from Comicbook.com and numerous other sites that report on Star Wars related news. Due to either a high number of Star Wars fans or unemployed job seekers, the petition quickly started to amass thousands of signatures. As per the agreement, the petition must now be reviewed by the Obama administration's White House staff. The petition will then be sent to the appropriate policy expert, and an official response will be issued. The Death Star petition states, "By focusing our defense resources into a space-superiority platform and weapon system such as a Death Star, the government can spur job creation in the fields of construction, engineering, space exploration, and more, and strengthen our national defense." We can't wait to read how the Obama administration responds to this one.
