Guess who almost had a role in Iron Man 3? In an interview with Rap-Up TV, Rapper T.I. reveals that he was up for a role in Iron Man 3. T.I. doesn’t say what the role was, even though he does clarify that he wasn’t going to be playing Iron Man, which isn’t a surprise since Robert Downey Jr. owns that role.
T.I. said, “I was being considered for this one film. Now that it’s over with, I can say it, Iron Man 3. I was being considered for Iron Man 3, and it wasn’t to be Iron Man. It was to be another character in the film, but our schedules did not align and you now they had to do their little movie anyway. I told them go on ahead, I didn’t want to get in their way. “
Considering T.I. didn’t seem to be very concerned about missing out on the role, one might expect that it was likely a minor role and not a starring character role that would have led to a multiple picture deal. However, this is not the first time that T.I. has mentioned talking to Marvel Studios. He told Forbes earlier this year that there was a Marvel Comics franchise that had been acquiring about his availability for some time. Now, we know that franchise was Iron Man, even though we still don’t know what character he was going to play. Iron Man 3 is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 3, 2013.
