Weird War Tales #10, featuring the first work of famed comic book artist Walter Simonson, is available today as part of DC Comics’s Showcase Presents Weird War Tales Volume 1. It seemed worth mentioning not just because Simonson is a notable creator and a remarkable talent, but also because he shared some thoughts about the book on his Facebook page last month:
“Came in the mail today from, I presume, DC Comics. From the printer’s address, I think. An advance comp copy of volume one of Weird War Showcase. Issue 10 contains my first published story in comics. According to Amazon–out in January. “Cyrano’s Army”, an inventory story by Len Wein for Joe Orlando. Pencils, inks, and lettering. Drawn on a ping pong table in a house I was sitting my first month in NYC.”
