by Russ Burlingame

Dan Trachtenberg, a first-time director who made the short No Escape, a fan film based on the video game, Portal, has been named the director of the upcoming feature film based on Y: The Last Man.

The film, based on Brian K. Vaughan's best-selling series of graphic novels from Vertigo, will follow the tale of Yorick Brown, who wakes up one morning to discover that he's the last mammal left alive with a Y chromosome.

...Well, one of the last. His pet monkey is fine, too.

The result is that he becomes the world's most endangered species, fighting to get to the bottom of what's happened to the world while trying to keep himself alive in the face of an army of Amazon women who want to see the last man exterminated.
