Star Wars Episode 7 Pre-Production

During an interview that ran earlier this weekend promoting the DVD and Blu-ray release of Dredd, director Pete Travis said that he would, of course, be interested in directing Star Wars Episode VII if the opportunity arose. Asked whether he could be the next in line for a job offer after directors like Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Guillermo del Toro have reportedly taken themselves out of the running, Travis answered, "I wouldn't count out anything in this business, really. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?" He added, "Who wouldn't be interested in that? I loved it as a kid. I loved it while I was growing up. So, who knows?" Of course, we all know who wouldn't be interested in that--the real question is who Disney would be interested in. While Travis has drawn a good deal of praise for Dredd, it's hard to picture the studio looking to jump into bed with a director whose only remotely comparable movie lost money at the box office.
