Well, the director for Star Wars Episode 7 appears to have been revealed, but not in the way that Disney probably would like it to have been. Instead of a press release or official announcement on StarWars.com, The Wrap and Deadline broke the story by citing sources that it's a done deal that J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars Episode 7. The news of J.J. Abrams taking the Star Wars job has spread across the Internet like wildfire, and the reaction has been decidedly mixed if not negative. While J.J. Abrams is beloved by many fans for the work he has done on TV series such as LOST and movies such as Star Trek, the big controversy is that he's currently driving the Star Trek franchise. While it's unknown at this point what J.J. Abrams taking the Star Wars directing gig will mean for Star Trek, the general consensus appears to be that he will leave Star Trek. If J.J. Abrams does leave Star Trek, then fans who have invested in watching him rebuild the Star Trek franchise are upset that he will not be around to guide the third Star Trek movie. Fans of J.J. Abrams appear both excited about what it means for Star Wars, while at the same time disappointed at what it likely means for Star Trek. On the other hand, if J.J. Abrams does decide to somehow guide both the Star Wars and the Star Trek franchise, then it also raises the question of if both franchises would suffer because he's split between the two.  People who are not fans of J.J. Abrams appear upset at this scenario because they fear him in charge of both franchises. Should any one man have that much power of being in charge of the two biggest franchises in science fiction history?
