Spoiler alert, just in case, but we’re sure everybody who plans to watch the Avengers movie has seen it by now. One of the funniest and most memorable moments in the Avengers movie took place after the credits.
After ending the alien invasion of New York, a battered Tony Stark quipped to his teammates, “Have you ever tried shawarma? There’s a shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don’t know what it is, but I wanna try it.”
Then, after the credits in the Avengers, the entire team is shown sitting around silently eating shawarma. In the scene is Black Widow, Hawkeye, Captain America, Thor, Tony Stark, and Bruce Banner, but it turns out that an unexpected secret visitor joined them and the silence was broken.
Who was the mystery visitor? Remember how many wondered where War Machine was during the Avengers movie? Comicbook.com previously revealed that War Machine was busy fighting the Ten Rings terrorist organization in Hong Kong, while the Avenges were fighting the Chitauri in New York.
However, it turns out that James Rhodes, a.k.a. War Machine, finally made it to New York just as the Avengers were finishing up a nice meal. In the Iron Man 3 prequel comic book out in comic book stores today, there is a single panel that shows War Machine entering the frame with the Avengers eating shawarma. Tony Stark calls out, “Rhodes! Pull up a chair.”
