This week, a handful of cities got to to to their local theaters to see a panel discussion of AMC's The Walking Dead. You can see video of one such panel below, which featured Michael Rooker (Merle Dixon), Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), Lauren Cohan (Maggie Greene), Steven Yeun (Glenn Rhee) and effects legend Greg Nicotero. There's a lot of fun material in the show, but the highlight of last night's panel, as reported by a Redditor, gives a sense not only for how close the cast is, but for the way sometimes fans can get tunnel vision and miss the point of certain characters.

Probably the best q/a combo was to the effect of if you didn't have the comic book to follow, who would you kill off next? Nicotero kinda dodged it by turning it around on the audience: Who would you like to see go next? The dominant response was ANDREA! At this, the panel was kind of upset, shaking their heads and wagging their fingers. Norman spoke up and said You only say that because she's so good at what she does.

Andrea, of course, is a character who's got a lot of fans out for her blood this year, having hooked up romantically with the Governor just a year after having a fling with Shane while he was the bad guy. The fact that she's not nominally a bad guy (and that it's such a poor creative choice in the eyes of many, compared to how she is used in the comics) has given her less leeway than, say, The Governor gets, as everyone understands it's his purpose to be the villain. That Holden is effectively cultivating fan contempt, though, only means she's doing her job well in terms of playing out what's on the page in front of her. You can check out a fan-made video from the Kansas City panel below. All told, it's probably about an hour long.
