The Sixth Gun co-creator Cullen Bunn has just posted to his Facebook account that Laura Ramsey, star of The Ruins and She’s the Man, has been signed to star as Becky, the lead role in the forthcoming pilot based on the Oni Press comic book series.
Ramsey will play a farmer’s daughter who comes into possession of a gun with magical powers and has to use it to defend herself against powerful forces who want to take it from her and use it for evil.
The pilot is being billed as a “supernatural Western,” was written by Ryan Condal and will be directed by Jeffrey Reiner.
Ramsey hasn’t done a lot of television; she starred in the short-lived ABC series The Days and had a guest appearance on Mad Men, but has generally been a film performer up until now.
