300: Rise of an Empire Gets a Logo, Still on Track for 2013

by Russ Burlingame

In spite of reports earlier this week that the film was going to be bumped from the crowded August 2 release date, the first official art for 300: Rise of an Empire suggests that the long-awaited sequel is still on track for a 2013 release.

That shouldn't be any surprise, but there had been some speculation as to whether a change would mean a major, G.I. Joe: Retaliation style delay or whether it was just an attempt to avoid clashing with RED 2, 2 Guns AND Smurfs 2, which all fall on the same weekend.

The 300 Facebook page, where this logo debuted, doesn't have a release date for the new film, since it was established for the first movie in the franchise, which launched theatrically in 2007.
