Comic Book Men Con Men

In the "Con Men" episode of Comic Book Men, a guy brought in some He-Man animation cells that he wanted to sell. The seller wanted $700 for the animation cells, so Walt Flanagan called in Rob Bruce to appraise them. Rob appraised both cells at $500 retail, and Walt offered $200. After some haggling where Walt wouldn't budge on his offer, the seller agreed to take $200. Walt gets a call from a longtime customer named Gary Conover, who needs to sell his collection to help pay some medical bills. Walt agrees to have the Secret Stash help him sell his collection. In a discussion about the new Star Wars movies, Walt suggests that they should just redo Star Wars. Ming Chen says that Walt is getting ridiculous. As far as casting, Walt suggests Justin Bieber as Luke Skywalker. Bryan Johnson chimes in that Taylor Swift should be Princess Leia. Walt also suggests Luke and Leia could consummate before they find out they're brother and sister, and Byran jokes it would be NC-17. A customer is looking for Amazing Spider-Man #300, which is the first appearance of Venom. Walt agrees to sell the comic for $90. Back at Gary Conover's house, the Secret Stash guys start cataloging his collection. Walt comes up with the idea to hold their own auction to help Gary sell his collection. A guy brings in a Captain Kirk Star Trek action figure, which is autographed by William Shatner, to sell. The seller wants $150, but Walt offers $100. After some negotiation, Walt agrees to buy the figure for $110. A guy brings in a poster of Superman #13, and Walt calls over Rob Bruce to appraise it. Rob identifies it as a seventies piece worth about $40. Even though Walt offers $50 for the piece, the seller decides not to sell. At the Gary Con (Over) auction, Stan Lee introduces the auction via video and reveals that there are five hidden gems with his autograph. The bidding is fast and furious, and the last lot featuring the introduction of Wolverine in three issues of the Incredible Hulk sells for $685. The total amount raised in the auction is $27,935.
