At the PaleyFest panel on Arrow earlier today, Green Lantern and Arrow writer/producer Marc Guggenheim joined the stage with DC writers and executives including Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns, and insulted Man of Steel director Zack Snyder's 2009 adaptation of DC's Watchmen. "Sometimes with comic book adaptations, there's too much fidelity to the source material and there's not enough alchemy in the translation," said Andrew Kreisberg during today's discussion of Arrow, to which Marc Guggenheim coughed out "Watchmen!" "He said that!" Kreisberg joked, pointing at Guggenheim, before continuing to say that the flexibility of the premise on Arrow is one of the show's big advantages. He said that while fans of the comics are always excited to see things like the Royal Flush Gang or Big Belly Burger, Arrow is designed to appeal to anyone. He said that his wife, who doesn't read or care about comics, watched the pilot and told him it was the best thing he'd ever made.
