Spoilers ahead for last Sunday's episode of AMC's The Walking Dead.

During a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus was grilled on whether his character, Daryl Dixon, will blame the rest of the group for the death of his brother, which occurred last week when Merle Dixon attempted to launch a one-man attack on the Woodbury Army. "I've heard people question if Daryl blames Rick for letting this happen and starting this plan and getting Merle riled up and sending him out, but Daryl knows Merle and Merle does what ever he wants to do," Reedus said. "I don't think he blames Rick, Michonne or anyone else for that. His brother always made on-the-spot decisions, he never asked for permission to do anything. Merle, in the scene with Beth singing, inched his way into the room; he was like a lion, announced he was here and wanted to come into the warm room but he wasn't a threat and had his paws up in the air. Carol, Rick and Michonne eventually saw the goodness in Merle -- Glenn probably doesn't think there is but some of the prison group saw and knew it. In a world with so few people around you, you hope everybody has it in them to be able to change and not be the same person they were." While fans have been critical of the ghost of Lori Grimes paying frequent visits to the prison since her death, Reedus answered the inevitable question about Michael Rooker's return with a sense of optimism--about what it offered, if not necessarily that it might actually happen. "It would be fun wouldn't it?!" The actor laughed. "I don't know if that's going to happen. Certain things will definitely remind Daryl of Merle all the time -- he has his bike, too. It's almost like losing a father figure: There are so many questions you wanted to ask and you don't quite get there. I'm sure he'll be haunted by the death of his brother. I don't know if we'll see the ghost of Merle come back but it would be fun."
