Captain America: The Winter Soldier Blu-Ray Will Include Peggy Carter One-Shot

It seems very early to be discussing the special features on the Captain America: The Winter Soldier Blu-Ray...but that's exactly what Hayley Atwell is doing, admitting that she's only in a few flashbacks in the film but that the long-rumored Peggy Carter Marvel One Shot will appear as an extra on the home video release of the in-production sequel. This isn't much of a surprise since the One Shot had already been effectively confirmed by Marvel, but some fans had speculated that the project would be included on one of the other Blu-Ray releases, like Iron Man 3 or Thor: The Dark World, as a lead-in to The Winter Soldier. "Fans of the first film really wanted to find out what happened to Peggy afterwards, so Marvel are also making a short film, which is basically 'What Peggy Did Next', which will be shown at Comic-Con [the annual international pop culture convention held in San Diego] and be on the DVD extras of the second film," Atwell told The Big Issue. "So as well as doing a bit in the new film, I've got a whole new spin-off short film. It has been great to be back in training with the stunt co-ordinators, kicking some butt again." The character, and Atwell's performance, were the most popular of the Marvel movieverse love interests...which is unfortunate for the studio since Captain America's "jump forward" in time means that his supporting cast from the first film are unable to pick up where they left off in The Winter Soldier. Emily VanCamp of TV's Revenge will play Sharon Carter, Cap's new love interest, who in the comics is Peggy's niece.
