Superman not a virgin

By showing Clark Kent sporting a beard, director Zack Snyder opened up a huge debate over exactly how an invulnerable individual like Superman shaves. While there has been an explanation provided in the comic books involving heat vision and metal from Superman's rocket ship, it hasn't stopped Gillette from launching a marketing campaign over various theories as to how Superman shaves. Late Night Talk show host Conan O'Brien even weighed in with his own outrage, saying, "That beard is super, just like Superman, it's a super beard. How did he shave the beard off?" Now, director Zack Snyder has opened up another can of worms in a new interview with the New York Times. Snyder says, "We assume that Clark is not a virgin — I do. You don't see that, but that's the assumption." Of course, this little revelation by Snyder is likely to be even more controversial than the whole beard issue. After all, if Superman's beard is a super beard, then wouldn't his...well, let's just say there's always been debate over how any normal Earth girl might be able to survive an intimate encounter with the Man Of Steel. In addition to stirring a debate over if it's even possible, it also raises the moral issues of Superman no longer being the 'big blue boy scout." Since Clark Kent doesn't appear to meet Lois Lane until later in life in the Man Of Steel, Zack Snyder seems to be indicating that Clark Kent has hooked up with someone else. Was it a girlfriend from his childhood in Smallville? Or maybe a chance encounter with a mystery stranger while hitchhiking across America? Who was the lucky woman (or unfortunate victim)? The Man Of Steel opens in movie theaters in the United States on June 14, 2013.
