creator Robert Kirkman has a message for Daryl Dixon fans: No one is safe. No one is safe, and he doesn't care if you riot. Conventional wisdom is that Daryl Dixon and Rick Grimes are both fairly secure on the hit AMC series based on Kirkman's comic books--Rick because he's the lead character and Daryl because of his popularity with a very vocal fan base. Kirkman says, though, not to take anything quite so much on faith. "I get a lot of hate mail every time I kill anybody in the comic, which always aggravates me becuase it's like, 'It's been a hundred issues! Don't know how this is by now? What are you doing?'" Kirkman told reporters assembeld after AMC's The Walking Dead panel earlier today at San Diego Comic Con International. "But specifically about the Daryl thing--that fan reaction is going to get him killed. I feel like it's a dare. Like, 'Oh, really? You're gonna riot? We'll see...we'll see. No one is safe." He and showrunner Scott Gimple also joked that, if they were to kill a fan-favorite character just to make a point, they probably wouldn't be "safe" either. "We may be unsafe afterwards," said Gimple. "I mean physically."
