Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

might be going out of their way to remind us that "not all heroes are super," but that doesn't mean a certain super-soldier won't feel the repercussions of the events taking place in the series. After all, based on a fairly standard television schedule, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will wrap its first broadcast year just after the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier to theaters. That means in order to truly take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the series would likely have to at least acknowledge the film, especially because of the prevalence of S.H.I.E.L.D. throughout all of the promotional material we've seen so far. Well, ComicBook.com has heard from a source close to the production that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will, indeed, be interconnected with the upcoming second Captain America film, for which the trailer will be released this morning. According to our source, events taking place in the show will "tease and set up the S.H.I.E.L.D. of Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

We took that to mean that there will be a different S.H.I.E.L.D. going into the film--a somewhat more fractured S.H.I.E.L.D., not completely at ease with itself, as we've heard rumors of Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and Robert Redford's Alexander Pierce essentially vying for power within the organization. Our source declined to confirm or deny that speculation. It seemed from context that the conditions necessary for Captain America: The Winter Soldier precipitated events in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., not that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had forced any changes to Captain America. Again, that was not made explicit, although showrunners and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige have long said that, in general, the characters at the heart of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would necessarily feel the ramifications of events taking place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For a movie that seemingly revolves around S.H.I.E.L.D., we'd think that'd be doubly true. Ever since some of the actors started talking about Captain America: The Winter Soldier as an ensemble piece that closely resembles a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie and serves as connective tissue between Marvel's The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, there's been questions about how much the events of the film might be influenced by what fans see playing out between now and the end of the first season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
