Zack Synder Who Says Superman

Over at Comic Book Therapy, they've got their hands on the latest issue of the French-language movie magazine Popcorn Magazine, in which Man of Steel director Zack Snyder is interviewed in support of the upcoming sequel 300: Rise of an Empire. Questioned about Batman vs. Superman, Snyder reiterated that Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns will inspire the film in that it will inform the history of the universe and potentially the relationship between the two lead characters--but the film isn't an adaptation of the film. He also said that hiring Affleck came down to the actor's ability to play both Snyder's iterations of Batman and Bruce Wayne.

Ben Affleck & Henry Cavill

"Ben brings an interesting counterweight to the performance of [Henry Cavill's] Superman," Snyder said. "He has the experience necessary to paint the picture of an older and more experienced man than Clark Kent, who bears the scars of a seasoned vigilante while at the same time retaining the charm that Bruce Wayne deploys when present in the world."
