The website Moviepilot.com is offering up an insider scoop on some details about Ben Affleck's Batman in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film. The report says that Batman will be 40 years old and retired for seven years. The events of The Dark Knight trilogy will, largely, have occurred as seen in the films, with certain details altered (Talia's involvement in The Dark Knight Rises, as well as Bane's death, were both mentioned as being retconned). After retiring, Bruce Wayne begins rebuilding Gotham while John Blake goes on to become the city's new protector as Nightwing. There have also been other Batman Family members, including Batwing, Batgirl, Red Robin and Robin, who was killed by the Joker (setting up a Red Hood film). Wayne has also built an army of Batman androids and drones. Batman leads the city as Bruce Wayne by day and through the Bat Family at night, taking a public role of financing Batman much as he did during the Batman Incorporated series of comics. The authorities view Batman as an embarrassment who took control of the city from them. Bruce Wayne wants to become involved with the rebuilding of Metropolis, but doing so forces him into a partnership with LexCorp. Now, this is all rumor at best, and much of it is suspect. The inclusion and alteration of Christopher Nolan's canon? The addition of several members of the Batman Family off screen? A Red Hood solo film already in planning? These seem like some pretty big leaps from what we have known before, but I suppose anything is possible. A 40-year-old Batman forced into working with Lex Luthor seems like the most likely truth in this report, but we'll have to wait and see. Batman vs. Superman is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016.
