Game of Thrones - Two Swords

Daenerys Targaryen had to make a tough decision in last night's episode of Game of Thrones, "Oathkeeper." As the episode's preview synopsis said, she had to choose between justice and mercy. She chose the former, despite Barrister Selmy's urging her to choose the latter. In a video released by HBO, Emilia Clarke and Ian McElhinney, the actors who play Dany and Selmy respectively, discuss Dany's decision. Clarke doesn't seem to believe that Dany made the right one. "The crucifixion of the children has struck a chord in her that has clouded any sort of helpful leadership values she may have," says Clarke. "She spends so much of her time ignoring the innate femininity that's within her and spends so much time being a strong woman within a man's world that I think that she convinces herself that what she's doing in what any commander would do, but actually it's not what a good leader would do." Daenerys is about to begin attempting to rule for the first time, setting herself up as the new monarch of Meereen. Her poor judgment in dealing with the slave masters may come back to haunt her later on. Game of Thrones airs Sunday nights at 9 PM ET on HBO.
