Marvel Editor Jeanine Schaefer has been named the company's new talent scout, according to a tweet from comics writer James Asmus.

Schaefer will replace C.B. Cebulski, Marvel's long-time talent scout who has been promoted to Vice President of International Business Development & Brand Management.

Schaefer confirmed the news in a statement.

"I'm so excited to be taking the torch that C.B. so generously passed," Schaefer said in a statement. "I'm looking forward to continuing the Marvel tradition of finding the best and brightest talent and helping the team to create the best books in the industry. Also, the parties."

Schaefer is the editor of a number of titles in the X-Men family of books, including the just-launched and critically-acclaimed Cyclops.

Schaefer, for her part, has been tweeting from New York, where she will join the rest of Marvel for Special Edition: NYC, ReedPop's "other" show pushing comics rather than the other-media adaptations that have taken over Comic Con International: San Diego and ReedPop's own New York Comic Con.

The move comes on the heels of Marvel reviving their "Young Guns" initiative, promoting hot, young talent working on their titles as a selling point.
