In the latest installment of the YouTube series "Every Frame a Painting," Tony Zhou takes on the question "What is Bayhem?"

Bayhem is the term coined to refer to Michael Bay's style of directing, saturated with action, motion, and a sense of importance. Zhou is quick to point out that he's not a fan of Bay, but still thinks it's important to examine how his style works.

He breaks down the style into its core elements – scale, parallax, and motion – and examines why it falls flat when so many others try to imitate it. Things get particularly interesting when he looks at how Bay's style is influence by one of the director's favorite movies, West Side Story.

Bay's latest film, Transformers: Age of Extinction, is full of Bayhem and in theaters now.
