While much attention has been paid to the action and humor of David Ayer's Suicide Squad, it might be more of a love story than originally expected.

Well, a twisted partially psychotic love story that is.

In the newest issue of EW, it appears we will get a much closer look at what brings all of these villains together, as well as what role Jared Leto's Joker plays in the film. According to the magazine, it comes down to "the Joker (Jared Leto), and his laser-like plan to reunite with his true love, Harley (Margot Robbie), mission be damned." I imagine his plan won't go unimpeded, and that should be fun to watch.

The story of Joker and Harley is a fan favorite, and I'll be interested to see Ayer's approach, as the Joker here is much different than the one seen in the comics. In the same article, Ayer's admitted the pressure is high to get the movie right, especially in light of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's perceived failures.

"Two years ago Suicide Squad was a tertiary [DC property]. No one knew anything about it. It was a cool little playground, and I was going to go make my movie. Now it's like the hype bus. All of the attention has swung onto it, and it has to carry a lot more weight than it was ever intended to. I think it can sustain it. But it's a lot of pressure. You definitely feel the pressure."

Suicide Squad releases on August 5th.
