Harley Quinn Taking Over Iconic Batman Covers for Batman Day

Batman Day may be coming up on September 23, but tell that to Harley Quinn. In honor of the character's 25th anniversary, Harley's taking over, making the event "Harley Quinn Day" and inserting herself into two iconic Batman covers.

The special covers are both by veteran comic book cover artist Ryan Sook. In the first, Sook recreates Jim Lee's cover to Batman #608. That issue was the first chapter in the Hush story written by Jeph Loeb and inker Scott Williams. Harley stands beside Batman to take in Gotham City below with Batman's cape blowing behind her and bubble gum in her mouth.

The second cover is a recreation of the first issue cover of Frank Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and features Harley, all in shadow, leaping alongside the Dark Knight himself.

Both covers will be incorporated in a large poster for display at stores taking part of Batman Day this year with the Dark Knight cover featured as the cover for the free comic distributed at special in-store events.

Harley Quinn first appeared twenty-five years ago this year in Paul Dini and Bruce Timm's Batman: The Animated Series. Since then, the deranged former Dr. Harleen Quinzel has gone on to be one of DC's most popular female characters. To celebrate, Dini will hold an event in at Barnes & Noble in Los Angeles to support his recent graphic novel Harley Quinn: A Celebration of 25 Years on September 23rd. The event will take place at Barnes & Noble on The Grove and a wristband, issued on a first come, first served basis, is required to attend for those who purchase the graphic novel from the store that morning at 9 a.m.
