Last weekend at San Diego Comic Con, during Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation, footage from Spider-Man: Homecoming was shown to the jubilant crowd. One particular scene had Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland) in a high school classroom watching a YouTube video of himself, dressed as Spider-Man, taking down the giant-sized version of Ant-Man.

The website io9 got the impression that Peter was watching the video for a more important reason than just to marvel at his own Civil War exploits and asked Holland about that. "That's an interesting question and I don't know if I can answer it fully," the actor answered. "But it's like when you go on holiday and you come home, back to school and you're like 'Wow, I wish I was on holiday again.' And that's all I can say without ruining anything."

Holland then explained what director Jon Watts told him was the goal of the film. "I remember sitting down with Jon, a year ago, and saying 'What do you want to make?'" Holland shared. "And he told me he wants to make a movie that's real. About a real high school student and what would he do if he got superpowers? And that's exactly what we've been doing. And I think that trailer really demonstrates Jon's vision and what it is he wants to create and I behind it 100%."

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Marvel Studios' Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging superhero in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The cast features Tom Holland (In the Heart of the Sea), Michael Keaton (Batman, Birdman), Zendaya (K.C. Undercover), Donald Glover (The Martian, Community), Jacob Batalon (North Woods), Laura Harrier (One Life to Live), Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Tyne Daly (Cagney and Lacey), Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo), with Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny, The Wrestler), and Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man, The Avengers). It also includes Martin Starr (Silicon Valley), Kenneth Choi (The People vs. O.J. Simpson), Michael Mando (Better Call Saul), Selenis Leyva (Orange is the New Black), Isabella Amara (The Boss), Jorge Lendeborg, Jr. (Graceland), JJ Totah (Liv and Maddie), and Hannibal Buress (30 Rock).

The film is being directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car, Clown), based on a screenplay by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley (Vacation reboot) and Jon Watts & Christopher Ford and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers.

The film is produced by Marvel boss Kevin Feige and former Sony boss Amy Pascal. Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Patricia Whitcher, Jeremy Latcham, and Stan Lee are serving as Executive Producers.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released on July 7, 2017.
