The Walking Dead: Five Things We Want To See In The Comic Con Trailer

Coming up in just a few weeks, fans of The Walking Dead will finally see some new footage for the first time since Negan brought down his bat on our heads. That’s right, we’re going to get our first look at The Walking Dead‘s seventh season at San Diego Comic Con.

Season seven will be seeing the largest expansion to the world of The Walking Dead since the group arrived at Alexandria. In fact, the growth in terms of characters and locations may actually be larger than the trek to Virginia.

The trailers presented during The Walking Dead‘s massive Hall H panel have run anywhere from 3 1/2 to 6 minutes long. That’s a lot of time to reveal, mislead, and tease audiences about what will be coming when October arrives. So, what are we hoping to see in The Walking Dead’s season 7 trailer? Let’s take a look…

Be warned, spoilers for the comics and possibly The Walking Dead TV series follow.

Clues

ย

Surely, The Walking Dead’sย season 7 trailer is not going to tell us who it was that Negan killed in the closing moments of season 6 and the biggest mystery of the summer will remain.

However, we will hopefully get some clues about who Neganย didn’t kill and be able to narrow down the choices by a couple of names. We can already bet Neganย didn’t kill Rick or Carl based on his comments in his introductory scene but Aaron, Michonne, Daryl, Rosita, Abraham, Glenn, Maggie, Sasha, and Eugene are all still options.

Let’s get some clues regarding Negan’sย first strike!

Ezekiel

ย

Rumor has it, Ezekiel will be making his debut in the third episode of The Walking Dead’s seventh season.

That said, AMCย has not confirmed or denied Ezekiel’s involvement with the series when the show returns. His Kingdom was teased in the season 6 finale when a couple of armored survivors looking consistent with Kingdom characters of the comics arrived to help Morgan and Carol.

Our first look at Ezekiel, the actor playing him, and his Kingdom community need to be in the trailer!

Shiva

ย

Ezekiel won’t be Ezekiel if his noble tiger is not by his side.ย

Rumors about how The Walking Dead will pull off Shiva, Ezekiel’s tiger, in live-action have bounced around the Internet for the past few months. Some say there is a real tiger on set, some say an animatronicย beast will be combined with CGI in post-production, and some say she’ll be completely computerized. Whatever the case, the last I heard was that they were “trying” to bring the tiger to life and we should expect to see her in the Comic Con trailer.

Roar.

Rick’s Plan

ย

We all expect Rick to bounce back from his first encounter with Negan and rally Alexandria and its surrounding communities for war.ย

Last year’s Comic Con trailer saw Rick delivering one of the most epic lines, causing an eruption in Hall H. Pointing his gun at Carter, he questioned his intentions at Alexandria and ended with, “Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?”

This trailer will be a major contrast to that line seeing as Rick has fallen from power. He’ll be quite broken but he’ll have to quickly gather himself and those around him and we look forward to seeing him pick up the pieces.

The Sanctuary

Season 7 will take us into the mind of Neganย as he becomes one of the most focal antagonists any series has ever seen.ย

Inย the comics, Neganย calls a warehouse by the name of “The Sanctuary” home. It’s where Neganย keeps his wives, his soldiers, and allows Lucille to get some rest. However, it is also a place with several rules in place and intense methods of punishment. How much of that we’ll see before season 7 rolls around in the fall is unknown but we’ll gladly take a peek inside.

The Walking Dead‘sย San Diego Comic Con panel will take place on Friday, July 22. Historically, AMCย releases their SDCCย trailer online simultaneously to showing it in Hall H.
