Along with all of the new faces coming to AMC's The Walking Dead in show's seventh season is some exploration of characters whom we have merely scratched the surface of. In prepartion for the most anticipated episode of the entire series airing this Sunday, ComicBook.com is taking a look at some of those characters all week long.

Today, we will get to know a comic book character who is yet to be introduced on the AMC series: Magna.

Magna is a character who is first encountered in issue #127 of The Walking Dead comics. Given the pacing of the live-action adaptation of Robert Kirkman's comics, Magna would not be appearing on television until Season 8 but some casting rumors have fans expecting to arrive earlier.

Magna is the leader of a small group discovered by Paul "Jesus" Monroe in the comics (who on television was renamed Paul "Jesus" Rovia). They have been residing just outside of the Washington, D.C. area when found but go on to become residents of the Alexandria Safe-Zone.

Upon arrival in Alexandria, though, Magna and her group are interviewed (or interrogated) by Rick Grimes, as is standard procedure by this point. Magna reveals that she and others were living in a nursing home in Richmond, Virginia but eventually left when it became unsafe.

Later on, Magna and her curious group snoop around Alexandria and find a jailed Negan begging for freedom. Some of her group trusts Negan and swears Rick is evil but Magna insists they trust him.

The reason we're paying close attention to Magna today is because of casting calls which surfaced over the summer. As it would turn out, Tara and Heath's apparently never-ending supply run will lead them to an encounter with a middle-aged female leader. While the character will somehow encounter a washed-up-on-shore Tara, it's Tara who runs away, distrusting any new faces.

The call went out for a character under the code name, "Brion."

"Brion is an educated, pokerfaced leader who has a superior air and does not let his/her motives be known," the casting call said.

"Brion uses as few words as possible and keeps his/her emotions in check -- we do see amusement, annoyance, displeasure," the call reads. "Brion just doesn't wear their emotions on their sleeve; he/she is confident, quiet, and chiefly concerned with how anything may benefit him/her and those he/she knows."

While some may argue the description of the character better fits Alpha, the leader of the Whisperers, we are further out from meeting the Whisperers than we are Alpha - assuming both are coming to television.

Previously, The Walking Dead TV series has introduced characters ahead of their comic book arrival such as Dwight. Dwight came first came into the picture in issue #98 of the comics, where he killed Abraham with an arrow through the eye, but appeared in the first half of Season 6 for an encounter with Daryl and a bit more depth to his character.

The Walking Dead returns for its seventh season on October 23 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC. For complete coverage and insider info all season long, follow @BrandonDavisBD on Twitter.
