AMC just sent fans of The Walking Dead for a loop, as the network released an array of cryptic - and somewhat bizarre - images from the second half of season seven. The 14 photos captured eerie versions of peanuts, lanterns, and even rubber ducks.
No one from the show has commented on what these images could mean, but the understanding is that they will somehow play into the events of the next eight episodes.
When thinking about it that way, one of the pictures really shatters the hearts of fans.
Among these images is a photo of a freshly-dug grave, with a pile of dirt beside it. Does this mean the death of a major character is being foreshadowed?
Quite possibly, if we're being honest.
There has been a lot of talk about who could die as Rick prepares his group to go to war with Negan and the Saviors. Since the villain has already proved he can kill main characters without a shred of mercy, everyone is ready for the worst.
A possible victim that folks have focused on is Sasha. It seems like her character's arc is starting to wrap up, as she is starting to act in a sacrificial manner - but for the right reasons. When you couple that with the fact that Abraham's lover in the comics (Holly) was killed during this story arc, and the recent casting of Sonequa Martin-Green as the lead in the new Star Trek: Discovery series, things don't look good for her character.
While Sasha may be in danger, it is hard to believe the producers of The Walking Dead would show the burial site of such a major character this far away from their death. They want fans to think about who's it could be, but the grave is likely for a smaller character.
This could mean it belongs to Fat Joey, a savior who has yet to die, or even one of the characters from a supposed "new group" that Robert Kirkman teased after the midseason finale.
Either way, the picture is promising death in the new episodes of The Walking Dead - but I think we've all come to expect that at this point.
